Flag Institute member Andy Strangeway is coordinating the competition to design and select the new flag for County Durham.
As he and others have pointed out, County Durham is now the only historic northern county not to have its own flag…
Lets hope we get that rectified soon!

We don't know them yet, but the options in the Bothwell Flag Competition have been decided! Voting later this year and unveiling early next year.
The Flag Institute is an adviser to the UK Parliamentary Flags & Heraldry Committee.
The Flag Institute is an active member of FIAV (Fédération internationale des associations vexillologiques).
