Design a community flag for Cumbria!
Many English counties already have community flags, but Cumbria doesn’t β yet!
An official county flag was created in 1974 for use by councils and public buildings.
However, a community flag for Cumbria will belong to everyone.
It will celebrate Cumbria’s heritage and culture, raise its profile nationally, express pride in the local community and complement the existing historic county flags of Cumberland, Westmorland and Furness (Lancashire).
The competition is being run by Cumbria’s Lord-Lieutenant and High Sheriff, with support from Cumberland Council, Westmorland and Furness Council, Carlisle Cathedral, the University of Cumbria, and the Flag Institute.
It opens at 12 noon on Monday, 24 March 2025, and closes at 12 noon on Friday, 25 April 2025.
