Notes: | The East Riding Flag is a community flag proclaiming the unique identity of this historic Riding of Yorkshire. The white rose appears in East Riding style (upside down from the usual Yorkshire rose). The field of blue and green represents the area’s maritime and agricultural links. The blue appears at the hoist to represent its connection to the whole of Yorkshire. The green appears towards the fly to represent its position in the east. BBC Radio Humberside launched a design competition on 7 January 2013. A judging panel shortlisted six designs from numerous entries, and a public vote selected the winner. |
