Notes:

The Preston Flag is a community flag proclaiming the unique identity of this Lancashire city.

The colours of the flag are white and navy blue.

White references the nickname of Preston North End FC, the Lilywhites.

Navy blue stripes evokes the traditional strip of Preston North End (socks) and the Preston Grasshoppers RFC (shirts).

The navy blue stripes form two crosses with a thin white gap between them.

These represent Preston’s position as a hub of Lancashire’s motorway and railway networks.

The two crosses form a larger cross indicating Preston’s religious heritage, its name deriving from ‘Priest’s Town’.

In the centre of the cross is the Lamb of St Wilfrid, the patron saint of Preston.
